B i o g r a p h y
Ricardo Januário Ribeiro Ferreira was born in Mirandela (Portugal) in 1984.
He started to play the cello when he was 12 years old in Esproarte (Mirandela) in the class of Richard Arnold Allum. He finish that school in 2002 with honors. During this past years Ricardo has played in all portuguese students orchestras. He has study with Madalena de Sá e Costa in private during six years. In the year 2002 Ricardo went to Study in the Conservatorium of Muziek in Utrecht (Netherlands), in the cello class of Eliaz Arizcuren and Ran Varon, He graduated with Honers in 2007.
He had Master classes with great cellists like: Paulo Gaio Lima, Gavriel Lipkind, Dimitri Fertshman, Dimitri Perlin, Boris Pergamenschikow, Raphael Wolfish among other cellists.
As a solist he has played solo with some orchestras like: Intermezzo ensemble, Benelux Camarata, HKU String Orchestra, Metropole Erasmus Orchestra and Esproarte.
He played in chamber music with Benelux Trio, Lusocello ensemble, Trio Esproarte.
from 2008 to 2013 he was teaching at Esproarte, Conservatório de Música de Bragança, academia de musica de Mirandela, Condoctor of orquestra geração and the teacher of cello section of Aproarte.
Ricardo is playing solo in portugal, solo recitals and with his piano player Dan Treur.
Now he is a full time cello player at Orquestra do Norte (Portugal).
This year he was consider one of the best portuguese cellist of his generation.
